ABOUT THE PLAY

It's four days before Christmas in the tiny town of Tinsel, Texas, and a colorful parade of eccentric guests arrive at the Snowflake Inn and deck the halls with holiday hilarity! Trina, the harried yet upbeat innkeeper,
has more than she can handle coping with these nuttier-than-a-fruitcake lodgers. Hoyt and his sister Donna Jo make the mistake of trying to end a 35-year feud between their curmudgeonly aunts, Ennis and Della, with sidesplitting results. Ainsley and Lenora, self-involved actors from a lower-than-low-budget touring production of “A Christmas Carol,” descend on the Inn to fulfill a promise, leaving comedic chaos in their wake. Add to this Yuletide mayhem an ill-advised romantic rendezvous between Mrs. Claus and one of Santa's elves, a demanding guest who refuses to leave, and a tipsy housekeeper, it's clear it will take more than a kiss under the mistletoe to keep Trina's spirits merry and bright. But a spur-of-the-moment Christmas Eve wedding that brings together the Futrelle sisters - Honey Raye, Twink, Frankie, and Rhonda Lynn - and their friend Raynerd takes a surprising and delightful turn that leads to a laugh-til-your-sides-ache climax, changing all of their lives forever.
This family-friendly Christmas comedy is more fun than a joy ride in a one-horse open sleigh!

Vincennes Marks Distance Education Milestone

October 13, 2011
News Release
VINCENNES, Ind. - Following a 50 percent growth rate in the past 36 months, Vincennes University’s Distance Education program reached a milestone Thursday when enrollment reached 15,000 credit hours in a single semester.
“This success clearly indicates that VU is meeting a growing need for flexible delivery of higher education courses. Both complementing and extending VU’s longtime statewide mission, Distance Education is a great benefit for persons seeking to prepare for promising careers,” said VU President Dick Helton.
Offering almost 400 online course sections each semester, VU’s Distance Education courses have proven popular with a growing number of students worldwide, according to Don Kaufman, dean of Extended Studies. They are also among the lowest cost courses offered in the state.
“VU offers quality, highly transferable courses to students when they want it, where they want it, and at a price they can afford. Students enjoy the convenience of accessing their courses any time they have an internet connection,” Kaufman said.
Shanni Simmons, director of VU Distance Education, said that enrollment has grown 50 percent in the past 36 months. “This growth is due to the hard work of the Extended Studies team and VU supporting offices. We are honored to assist students with receiving a quality education. Distance Education enables VU to reach students around the world and work with students who are unable to follow a traditional semester schedule,” Simmons said.
Through VU’s Distance Education program, students may complete one bachelor’s degree, 27 associate degrees, and 7 degree completion or certificate programs.
Courses are available to students over the Internet, by traditional
paper-based correspondence, and in some cases, on CD. Within the state of Indiana, television and two-way video courses are offered on a case-specific basis. Courses are scheduled year-round and offered in different term options to accommodate a variety of student needs: regular semester-based courses, eight-week courses, and six-month courses.
A schedule of courses can be found at www.vinu.edu/distance or by contacting the Distance Education office at 1-800-880-7961.

According to a TV reporter’s investigation of the 4 years death in Vincennes

According to a TV reporter’s investigation:
The police officer was traveling at a rate of 60 miles per hour when he hit the van killing a 4 year old and seriously injuring one adult. The speed limit is 35 mile per hour and I understand that this means that the officer was speeding beyond what is reasonable for an officer in pursuit should be traveling through a residential area.

Witnesses, I understand, say that the officer did not have either his lights or siren on as he was pursuit the auto that believed ran a stop sign.

The van that was hit by the officer’s car had the right-a-way and the officer ran the stop sign.

There were no skid marks at the collision point and the officer’s car pushed the van sideways approximately 30 feet into a yard.

It appears that the car that the officer was in pursuit of simply turned at the end oso thatf the street and most likely did not know the officer was in pursuit. The street makes a sharp left turn at the end so it appears that the officer was trying to catch up before the car in question went out of sight around the corner.

Apparently due to legal pursuits the witnesses cannot be named at this time.

I believe that this is or at least should be what the reporter will be reporting on TV.

Police chases are not necessary

This is why the police officers need to understand that their radio is faster than a Mazda and it won't kill a child riding along in their family car.

Police chase crash kills 4-year-old boy
4 others injured in police chase crash

VINCENNES, Ind. (WTHI) - A Saturday afternoon chase left a 4-year-old boy dead and sent four others to the hospital.

The accident happened just before 1 p.m. in Vincennes.

It all started when Knox County Sheriff Deputy John Fuller attempted to pull over a Mazda for traffic violations.

The Mazda continued driving, running through the intersection of 17th and Busserson.

Deputy Fuller followed the Mazda through the intersection and that's when the deputy's car hit the rear of a Dodge Caravan that was driving through the intersection.

Jordan Walls, 4, died from head injuries he received in the crash.

Kendall Kirby, 12, is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Michael Kirby, 34, was taken by medical helicopter to an Evansville hospital. He's being treated for serious injuries.

Barbara Forney, 26, the driver of the Dodge Caravan, and Deputy Fuller were taken to Good Samaritan for minor injuries.

Police do not believe they were wearing seat belts.

The police have not said what happened to the Mazda.

The crash in still being investigated.

Tyler Technologies Forms being used to assess business property; rental and others.

I have a difficult time understanding why the prosperity of a business has anything to do with the value of the property or does the business prosperity act as a guide for property value such as when it is high tax valuation goes up and when business is poor tax valuations go down. I would believe the up side but I find the down side unlikely.

I see that they promise that none of the information will be leaked or turned over to anybody but I find that unlikely because it seems to me that whenever pressure is applied that it would be easier to turn over my information than to make enemies of those in power namely judges, law enforcement and the local and State governments.

I also noticed that the request appears to be a voluntary request. It reads: "As part of this process we are requesting property income and expense information."

Obama’s promise to bankrupt coal industry to cost 1,000 jobs in upper Midwest

posted at 12:00 pm on June 27, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

During the campaign, Barack Obama promised to bankrupt any new coal-burning plants in the US through his global-warming policies.  Congress has followed suit with a cap-and-trade bill that Harry Reid keeps promising to revive.  One firm in Wisconsin shows exactly what happens when politicians intervene to attempt to conduct social engineering in the energy sector. Bucyrus just lost a $600 million project for a new coal-burning electricity plant in India, thanks to a decision by the Congressionally-funded US Export-Import Bank to deny the Wisconsin firm credit, based in part on Barack Obama’s policies:
Up to 1,000 jobs at Bucyrus International Inc. and its suppliers could be in jeopardy as the result of a decision by the U.S. Export-Import Bank, funded by Congress, to deny several hundred million dollars in loan guarantees to a coal-fired power plant and mine in India.
About 300 of those jobs are at the Bucyrus plant in

Tax Cut Expiration

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Stanczak:

Thank you for contacting me about the pending expiration of the Bush tax cuts. Absent congressional action, individual, estate, capital gains, and dividend tax rates will increase. In addition, a number of credits and deductions, such as the child tax credit, dependent care credit, and marriage deduction will decrease. I am hopeful that the Senate will consider an extension of these provisions in a timely manner.

I voted for the original tax cuts enacted during the Bush Administration and am in favor of minimizing our collective tax burden. I believe that lower taxes, along with constrained federal spending, will allow the economy to expand and provide jobs for Americans. The economy must grow vigorously for Americans to achieve a higher standard of living and for the government to function effectively.

Thank you, again, for contacting me.

Sincerely,

Richard G. Lugar
United States Senator

Indiana's 8th Congressional District

Another showdown will take place in the “Bloody Eighth”, as this district has come to be known because of its hard-fought and tight political races as well as its opposition towards incumbents.

The seat was left vacant after incumbent Brad Ellsworth (D) (who received an “F” on our scorecard) decided to run for the US Senate seat to replace Evan Bayh (D).

Dr. Larry Buschon won the Republican nomination and is running for office for the first time.

The Democratic candidate, Trent Van Haaften, is an attorney and Indiana legislator.  Van Haaften is running as a “blue dog” who supports gun rights and small business tax relief and opposes cap and trade, but he also supports Obamacare and opposes free trade.

Constitution Day - Judge John E. Jones

John Edward Jones III is an American lawyer and jurist from the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. A Republican, Jones was appointed by President George W. Bush as federal judge on the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania in February 2002 and was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate on July 30, 2002. He is best known for his presiding role in the landmark Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District case, in which the teaching of intelligent design in public school science classes was ruled to be unconstitutional.
Jones was assigned to the Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District bench trial, the first direct challenge brought in the federal courts against a school district that mandated the teaching of intelligent design. He was praised by Tom Ridge, former Pennsylvania Governor and former head of the Department of Homeland Security, who said

From Senator Hume

July 27, 2010

Dear Mr. Stanczak,

Thank you for contacting me regarding the Arizona Immigration Law.  During the past few sessions Senator Mike Delph has filed similar legislation here in Indiana and it is my guess the Senator Delph will once again introduce legislation for the upcoming 2011 legislative session that will be shaped to closely mirror what was done in Arizona. This will be a high profile piece of legislation and will be closely monitored. I strongly believe that it should also reflect some changes in the restrictions and consequences for businesses, who recruit, import and hire illegals.

Sincerely,

Lindel Hume

Just Because A Candidate Is Republican Does Not Mean They Support The 2nd Amendment

Sometimes folks assume that because a politician is a Republican, he is a solid supporter of the Second Amendment.

I hope you don’t make that mistake.

You see, you and I are only one or two votes shy of losing our right to keep and bear arms in the U.S. Senate.

We have the most anti-gun administration in nearly 20 years. The last time such a rabid anti-gunner was in charge in Washington, we got the Brady Bill, a ban on an entire class of
