Govt Health Insurance
Rep Ellsworth gave an interview on the Dave Crooks political show Saturday morning and to be honest I was impressed. Much more than listening to the Insurance Salesman on Wednesday night. But one thing that bothers me among others is his (Ellsworth) insistance that he would not support anything that would shorten the life of any senior.
I guess my point is what is the definition of 'shorten'. I think he is referring to something that might take time away from a normal life span, like withholding necessary medicine or procedures that are normal for today.
Of course this is not going to happen.
So we have 'shorten', 'normal', and 'lengthen'.
'Lengthen' is not talked about much when it comes to possible expensive procedures but rather preventitive medicine to extend normal health and the lifespan that comes with it.
Implants, transplants, life support machines and the many other costly things that are available now could be off limits to someone with just a few years to live, but available to those younger with a productive taxpayer life ahead of them.
I suspect this is the so called 'death panel' concern we are hearing about. And I think this is a legitimate claim.
Also I don't understand how a family that looks forward to an annual tax refund even tho they dont make enough money to live on let alone pay any taxes will be able to find the money to purchase a govt health insurance plan. They just won't be able to do it and what is their answer?
Getting fined.
It just won't work.
To say they could pay for health insurance out of their tax refund won't work because much of that already goes to back child support and the rest will go to maintain their vehicle and buy cigarettes and the like.
Medicaid now pays their medical bills.
Maybe they are not now classified as uninsured. But if they lose Medicaid they will be uninsured.
