- For Sale, For Rent in Bicknell

Comments
Nov 2 Council Mtg
Does anybody know if the 7 new units will be apartments that will be sold to any landlord (not just poverty level buyers)? We don't need 7 new rentals to compete with what will be a looming over-supply of rental property coming up with the departure of Duke workers. But if they are built I will be interested as they should rent quickly and will be priced at below cost.

According to the Mayor's office
It appears that there will not be any apartment buildings but there will be one townhouse which will be sold the same way that the duplex's are sold with the same type of requirements. The difference, the duplex and townhouse is that the townhouse will be two levels instead of one.
They're going to check to be sure that the information that they gave me was correct.
The city is moving forward on the houses and have two that are finished and are for sale; there are at least one person interested in one so far. As far as the building of new ones according to the mayor's office work has never been stopped.
Concerning the bid on the downtown project it was done by the Board of Works and right now nobody seems to know the amount of the bid.
This is some more information that the mayor's office is researching for me.

According to the Mayor
I was told by the buyer of one of the houses that his purchase was stopped at least temporarily along with other activity because of money being missing. One house was sold earlier and closed and the new people live in it.
The rest are sitting vacant and at least one is unfinished and the last one is still just a slab. I dont see any activity on any of them. In fact the grass needs to be mowed around them.
I have my doubts about any of the information you are getting from the Mayors office. The Pace project was awarded $1,250,000.00 of which Pace got around $200,000.00 which left around 1 million dollars for the city as I recall.
This new project was also applied for by Pace and since it was awarded Pace will surely collect their fee for their efforts.
I hope their fee will be reduced if Myczak does the work.
We need to get some of this information.

Talked to the Mayor's office
The mayor's office still does not know the amount of the bid but they are having a meeting Wednesday after election day and she will find it out for me then so I will call her back. I was told that the mayor knows the amount but is not in today or tomorrow.
Two houses are completed and on the market but there is not buyers yet. They still tell me that the work on the houses never was stopped.
They confirm that there is no apartments in the plans and that they mistakenly spoke of as apartments was in fact townhouses.

Well what they are telling
Well what they are telling you doesn't match what the human eye can see.
Also there is a story going around that one of the building contractors bought one of the houses he built.
Is there any truth to that?
Ron ackman
What they told me
They told me that they have not sold any of the houses and that only 2 has been completed so far. She told me to call her back at the end of the week to get more information so I will.
John R. Stanczak
this is strange. Dave Culp
This is strange. Dave Culp the loan officer for Old National Bank in Vincennes told me that 327 Alton closed this summer and he was the loan officer for the closing. And I know that the buyers are living in the house.
I don't think they rescinded the sale! I dont think that is even possible. He also told me that the loan had been sold to a buyer on the secondary loan market from Old National.
I have a notion to call Beth Meeks Real Estate to see what is really going on. She was the Realtor who got the listings.
According to the mayor
Sorry I got busy Friday and was not able to get back to the mayor's office but will contact them on the first of the week.
