Just Because A Candidate Is Republican Does Not Mean They Support The 2nd Amendment

Sometimes folks assume that because a politician is a Republican, he is a solid supporter of the Second Amendment.

I hope you don’t make that mistake.

You see, you and I are only one or two votes shy of losing our right to keep and bear arms in the U.S. Senate.

We have the most anti-gun administration in nearly 20 years. The last time such a rabid anti-gunner was in charge in Washington, we got the Brady Bill, a ban on an entire class of

semi-automatic hunting and target rifles, and millions of gun owners lost their rights.

One of your candidates for U.S. Senate –- one of the REPUBLICAN candidates, Dan Coats -- was on the wrong side of almost EVERY battle that took place during the Clinton years.

The truth is, Dan Coats is gun-banner Sarah Brady’s best friend.

More on that in a minute.

This year’s elections are in full swing, and the gun-grabbers know if they can pick up just a few more seats in the U.S. Senate, they’ll finally have the votes needed to ram their anti-gun agenda into law!

We’re talking about the point of no return.

With all that’s at stake this election year, and with your May 4 Republican Primary fast approaching, it’s crucial that freedom-loving Hoosiers know exactly where their candidates stand on the Second Amendment.

That’s why the National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR) recently surveyed your candidates for U.S. Senate in Indiana.

And today, I must report some very disturbing news.

One of the front runners in your upcoming Republican Primary -- Dan Coats -– is supporting gun control. You see, while Dan Coats did answer 16 of 17 questions on the survey pro-gun rights, his record of voting with the gun-grabbers tells a very different story...

...And it’s one gun-banner Sarah Brady would be proud of.

In fact, in 1991, Republican Dan Coats stood with the anti-gun crowd and VOTED FOR the dangerous, anti-gun “Brady Bill.”

But he didn’t stop there.

In 1993, he voted to send Sarah Brady’s dream to anti-gun President Bill Clinton’s desk, which he signed into law without hesitation.

Even worse, Coats voted to ban an entire class of semi-automatic hunting and target firearms by supporting the 1994 Clinton Gun Ban.

And in 1996, Dan Coats teamed up with a famous New Jersey gun-hater to pass the Lautenberg Gun Ban. This outrageous gun control scheme has stopped literally millions of law-abiding citizens from owning firearms for self defense.

So, let’s be clear: there’s no question where Dan Coats stands on your right to keep and bear arms –- he’s against it.

That’s why it’s vital you send Dan Coats a message.

Demand that he publicly apologize for his past support of gun control, and pledge that in the future, he will stand up to the gun-grabbers and cast his votes in support of the Second Amendment.

But, there is a silver lining to this black cloud.

You see, State Senator Marlin Stutzman -- the other Republican front runner in your race -- has returned his Candidate Survey in 100% support for your gun rights.

Republican Marlin Stutzman has pledged to stand up for the Second Amendment and fight the gun-grabbers every move tooth and nail. And he’s been a leader on gun issues in the Indiana State Senate.

Also encouraging is that another Republican candidate, former Congressman John Hostettler, was a staunch advocate for gun owners. Hostettler carried pro-gun legislation on a regular basis in Congress, and could only be classified as strongly pro-gun. Still, it does concern me that John Hostettler failed to answer his survey -- usually a sign of hostility to gun rights.

Really, in this primary race for the U.S. Senate, there are two pro-gun candidates, and then there’s Dan Coats, a certified anti-gun candidate based on his record in Congress.

But there isn’t much time.

Here’s what you can do to help:
Thank Republican Candidate Marlin Stutzman for pledging his 100% support for your right to keep and bear arms;

Thank John Hostettler for his leadership and commitment to our gun rights and insist he answer the National Association for Gun Rights survey 100%.

Give Republican Dan Coats an earful. Demand that he apologize for his past support of gun control, and pledge that if elected, he will cast his every vote in support of your Second Amendment rights.

There’s no doubt about it, the upcoming Congressional elections will have a greater impact on our Second Amendment rights then any other election in our lifetime.

And with so much at stake, I’m really going above and beyond to make sure every person in Indiana that cares about the Second Amendment knows exactly where their candidates stand.

And I’m counting on good folks like you to help make that possible.
