Miss Gordon miscalculated the percentage the new increase is, it is 86%, not nearly 50% as the Sun-commercial stated.
$7.50 divided by $4.04 = 1.86 (one for the original rate plus 86 for the increase.)
There was some good news at the council meeting that didn't get reported, for example the city has received a grant (I think $58,000 for a comprehensive outlook study for Bicknell of which $5,800 or 10% is to be paid by the City).
This is supposed to be a good thing making future grant applications easier and more likely to be received also giving some long range
goals etc for the city.
A possible community center in the Gossard building may be a step closer pending the results of an environmental study on it as I understand being paid for from grant funds.
For those of you who would like to get involved and help Bicknell progress please come to the Bicknell Good Start Meeting to be held Monday May 19 at 5:30 pm in the Fire Station Building. (Where you voted).
Also this Saturday morning will be another Farmers Market next to the gazebo on Main Street. Any kind of vendors will be welcome and at no charge. There's likely also to be coffee and donuts available too.

2000, 3378;
2006 (est) 3267.
In 2000 we had 1581 households, 1395 occupied,
946 owner occupied,
449 rented,
and 186 vacant.
