Good News!

A phone conversation today produced permission to erect a 'Downtown Bicknell Business District' temporary sign on the vacant lot at the corner of Main and 67.

With a sign like that we will let people know there is a 'downtown' Bicknell and hopefully more prosperity will come to downtown.

I can't for the life of me understand the objection to putting up a sign indicating the direction of the downtown district. I see them everywhere.

Good News

Was this the administration who called or a private action? Who is going to get the sign? Are you talking about a permanent sign or temporary?

Good News

This is the result of private actions by downtown merchants as a group.

A meeting a year and a half ago brought up the idea and requests got all negative answers but a recent inquiry got a positive answer this time.

I passed out notes on all downtown businesses, churches and offices last night about this and requesting that we meet asap to start on the project. It will be only temporary since the lot may be sold in the future but it still can be an attractive and effective sign.

We need to check with INDOT to get clearance but it should surely get the ok.

Downtown Sign

Since this was posted we have reserved the old library room at the top of the stairs in City Hall for a meeting of anyone interested this coming Saturday Oct 22 at 10 am.

INDOT says they will at this point allow us to proceed without an application.

We need to consult with Dixie Shouse at Area Planning but I don't expect any difficulty there.

Speaking of Area Planning former Area Planning Board member Peggy Magill is having several kinds of big health problems with the latest being a mild stroke suffered yesterday. She has sure suffered and appreciates all you thoughts and prayers for her recovery.

Peggy Magill

I'm so sorry to hear about Peggy's illness and I pray for a quick recovery.
