I watched the debate between Jill Long Thompson and Governor Mitch Daniels last night and I basically learned nothing except that Jill Long Thompson does not like the governor and she believes that he has done absolutely everything wrong.
Jill Long Thompson complained about everything but offered no solutions for any of it. Now I'm not sure about everything that each of them said but I suppose that it would be relatively easy to check out what Governor Mitch Daniels said as there should be public records available concerning the success or failure of his actions; Jill Long Thompson offered no proof of her accusations of gross mismanagement of the State of Indiana by the governor.
The debate turned out to be a she said he said event with
the governor stating numbers from the record as she quoted numbers from who knows where.
Of course I really did not appreciate the governor's comment about the State paying for education at Ivy Tech when Knox County has Vincennes University right here that is one of our largest employers if not the largest.
This debate left me with the opinion that the governor is not as concerned with our problems in Knox County as he should be and I arrived at this opinion because it is obvious that he is a strong backer of Ivy Tech whose programs are not normally transferable to 4 year schools, which is the disclaimer that they do run on their advertisements, when most classes at VU are transferable.
I was disappointed.
Jill Long Thompson came off as an angry woman who really did not have a solid plan only a your wrong plan and I'm going to change it. I remember the commercial on TV where they tell us be careful of people who quote change and be sure you really understand what changes they are talking about.
I remember about 5 years ago when everybody running for office in Bicknell was running on change and they did change things; to the worst.
Maybe it would be wise to check out the change before election day.
I'll be writing the governor to get a clarification on the Ivy Tech comment and will let you know the answer if and when I receive one.
