Allah Calls One Home

This video was ACTUALLY made by the bad guys. The cameraman is filming his friend as he praises Allah and launches mortar shots at American troops. Little does he know that new mortar shell tracking technology can track the trajectory of a hostile round and fire a retaliatory shot to precisely the spot from which the hostile shell was fired. This only requires the hostile mortar to fire 2 to 3 rounds. Count the number of mortar rounds the masked insurgent fires in the video.

July 9th contra dance

Band

This is info and a picture of the Hawf Family Band that consist of Alex mandolin, Rachel fiddle and guitar, Dylan fiddle and guitar, Tonia bass and Doug guitar and banjo who will play for our contra dance this coming July 9th at the Old Town Players Theatre, 5th and Broadway in Vincennes.

They are willing to play for us for what we might donate by passing the hat. So lets all come out to hear and dance to their music and make them feel welcome. Doug was a part of the Bales of Hay Band that we liked so well.

They will play from 7:15 or so till we close at 9:30 pm.

Prior to our contra dance that night we will hold a 50s and 60s record party fro 6 to 7 pm. Listen to music that you loved, we know some of your favorite music will be played.

The second dance in July will be on July 30th.

really good Contra Dances

It seems we kind of alternate between really good Contra Dances and weak ones due to attendance. Last Fidays dance was a really good one with several couples of enthusiastic dancers who seemed to really enjoy the dancing and even stayed for some bonus dances after closing time. We welcomed 2 new dancers and it was good to see some old friends back again. We did have 3 more men than ladies so in order to get as many couples as possible on the floor I volunteered to be the lady in some of the dances. (Jack was my partner again!). Thanks to the gentlemen who were good natured when it came time to dance with me in the dances. Oh well, its all in fun and everyone seemed to have a great time.

This coming Friday May 21 is our second dance in May, same time and place. (Practice starts at 7 pm with Contra from 7:30 to 9:30 Vincennes time, and we again dance at the Old Town Players Theatre at 5th and Broadway). Someone suggested a street dance or a parking lot dance and it is being considered. I will check with the city to see if power is available in the parking lot and if we could use it. Will cover this in your reminder email this week.

We have just one dance in June on the 11th and one in July on July 9th. Please mark these dates down. Check our web at vincennesdancers.com and while on our site check 'about us' to bring up contra dances on You Tube. It should arouse your interest.

Fridays 'Reunion' Contra Dance and this Fridays Contra Dance

If you missed last Fridays 'Reunion' Contra dance you missed a really good time. We welcomed 4 new dancers and some other dancers that we haven’t seen for a while. Newcomer Robin Root called and danced with us a nice square dance that was a lot of fun and we will definitely dance it again with Robin Calling. For those of you who know my son Andy he danced contra for his first time and did well. Newcomer Vicki Woods who has danced at Bloomington enjoyed the evening and said the dance was 'FUN'.

We have a 2nd dance scheduled this month with a dance this coming Friday the 30th with practice at 7 pm and contra from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. Our dances are called and are easy and fun. You are welcome to come as singles, couples, or the whole family. We dance a lot from contra improper lines, from circles, and do waltzes with couples traveling counter clockwise around the floor. Admission is FREE.

I have been reminded that our friends at the Bloomington Contra Dance Group will be holding 'Spring into Spring' this weekend with also a Friday night contra dance and activities all day Saturday and a big contra dance on Sat night. Their location is at Camp Ransford Boy Scout Camp on 446 south of Bloomington. Call Tom Morrison at 812-333-1550 for more information.

Visit our website at vincennesdancers.com for more contra information.
