'3 For One' and All this Friday Night!

The Vincennes Colonial/Contra Dance Group will hold a kind of 'Dance Spectacular' at the Old Town Players Theatre, 432 Broadway in Vincennes Friday night January 22nd with free admission. Things will start at 5 pm with 50s and 60s music featuring early 50s love songs this time and with pitch in refreshments. Bring your sweetie or meet a sweetie and dance to some great music from a while back including Johnnie Ray, Kay Starr, Sarah Vaughn, Elvis, Pat Boone, Fats Domino, Patti Page, McGuire Sisters, Andy Williams, Dean Martin, Perry Como and more. If the music can be arranged a dance from way back in the Ziegfield era called 'Paul Jones' will also be offered. It is a waltz mixer and is fun and easy.

At about 7 pm we will offer some instructions on Cajun Dancing including Cajun Swing and Cajun Jig for those of you who want to have a head start on dancing at the Mardi Gras Cajun Concert in Vincennes in February. Here is your chance. We always also offer Contra Dance instruction on basic moves for our Contra Dance which will be from 7:30 to 9:30. Contra is kind of pre square dance from early America and Europe and is danced around the world. Contra dances are practiced before dancing and called all the way thru and are easy and fun.

I havent had any response about getting the young Haaf Family musicians to come and play for us at a future dance. They will play for passing the hat. Could I please hear from you if you are in favor?

See you Friday night? Dances next month will be on Feb 5th and 12th. Check our website, vincennesdancers.com for more information.
